Phillips Seabrook will provide plan review and building inspection for the $20 million adaptive reuse of Montgomery Barracks Building 105, a 3-story brick structure constructed in the Presidio in 1895 that is being repurposed into a 40-room hotel. The building formerly housed the National Park Visitor Center.
The new hotel joins the Presidio’s current lodge, Inn at the Presidio, which opened in 2012 with 22 guest rooms. The buildings are managed by the Presidio Trust, an innovative federal agency created to save the Presidio and transform it into a new kind of national park.
The 42,000 square foot Barracks will undergo structural and interior renovations to make the facility ready for overnight guests. The architect is Architectural Resources Group; the general contractor is Plant Construction. Construction will begin in December 2016 with completion scheduled for mid-2018.
